Tom and Jerry as LEGOS

Posted: December 18, 2012

Before you get excited, no Tom and Jerry are NOT official Lego products. That being said, I thought I'd share this lovely find:

What we have here is from a LEGO competition held at www.mocpages.com, a LEGO fan community. Check out the rest of the Tom and Jerry LEGO images here.

The Tom and Jerry Show
Some BIG news today! Looks like Cartoon Network is set to premiere a new Tom and Jerry Show. Comprised of two 11-minute shorts, each episode will feature Tom the cat and Jerry the mouse plotting against each other—with Tom’s determination matched only by Jerry’s own cleverness in evading capture. Not sure when the official premiere is, I'll keep you posted when I do or you can follow me on Twitterto get the latest news.

Also, the “Tom & Jerry: Robin Hood and His Merry Mouse” DVD has just been release to a fanfare of MEH...at least from the Toon Zone's perspective

The Good:
Another Tom and Jerry DVD release with a theme, this time around it's all about Halloween/Horror/Holidays. This is a great DVD to get one in the mood for the fall/winter. Picture quality is crisp and clean, especially on the older cartoons.

If you are a huge fan of the Tom and Jerry Tales cartoons, this DVD is packed for of them.

The Bad:
As with the previous releases, there is a disproportionate amout of Tom and Jerry Tales Cartoons: 1 Chuck Jones era, 5 early Hanna-Barbera, 16 Tom and Jerry tales. Though that's not inherintely bad, but the was only one Hanna-Barbera that was Halloween themed. Where was "Fraidy Cat", "Dr.Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Mouse", or even "Heavenly Puss" for a more Halloween theme? Again, why is there no love for any Gene Deitch cartoons or the 1975 Hanna-Barbera? Heck, there are even some Tom and Jerry Kids episodes that would fit in nicely with this release.

Other than the lack of respect to any other era and the odd choices from some of the older Tom and Jerrys, I can't find anything really bad about this release.

The Ugly:
Mostly Tom and Jerry Tales oriented, though I can't say that's an ugly issue. My main beef with this release, as mentioned before, is the lack of any other Tom and Jerry era cartoons.

Okay, so it's been a couple of months since last I updated Tom and Jerry online. I have to admit it's partly due to laziness, but mostly due to a job switch these last couple of month.

So what is new? A lot. If you've been keeping up with the Facebook page you'd know about Tom & Jerry: Robin Hood & his Merry Mouse. The new cartoon is currently available On Demand or if you want the Blu-ray or DVD you'll have to wait till October 2, 2012 for the US release (Region 1).

In other news, Jazwares is launching a new line of figures and plush based on several classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters. Products hit toy aisles nationwide earlier this month and rollouts will continue into the fall and feature familiar faces from eight popular Hanna-Barbera properties, including The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Tom & Jerry, Yogi Bear, Space Ghost, Secret Squirrel, Captain Caveman and Hong Kong Phooey. These toys are now available on Amazon. Looks like I know what I'll be getting soon:
