The News

So I've been in the process of updating the Episode guide. I've got it pretty much up to date, however, the Tom and Jerry Kids guide is still lacking. Not much info out there as collectively I think we all want that show to disappear. I will still be working on the guide though, fine tuning and such. I would also like to thank those that have helped with the guide and caught glaring errors. My Thanks!

Also, I resized ALL the thumbnails in the picture gallery and in the model sheet gallery. After spending a couple of days on those two galleries, I realized that I may need to spend more time there and do some more organizing. Not sure I want to tackle that mountain just yet.

I plan on having the review of Tom and Jerry Around the World up sometime this week. My daughter had a nasty bout with a cold that she is finally over so I can focus on other things. Stat tuned!

It's time for an update

Tom and Jerry Around the World
Happy Friday everyone!

May 1 brings us a new Tom and Jerry DVD called Tom and Jerry: Around the World

Synopsis: Tom and Jerry travel the globe by land, sea, and air in this collection of 22 hilarious adventures. From Broadway to outer space, hitch a ride with your favorite cat and mouse for non-stop fun and action. Whether the furry duo is running from an erupting volcano on a tropical island or conducting an orchestra in Hollywood, you can count on laughs the whole way. Sword fights, magic spells, and treasure maps fill these delightful escapades and will have you climbing on board for more expeditions. So grab your luggage and bring the entire family along for a boisterous trip around the world and beyond.

This sounds like the previous release Tom and Jerry In the Dog House where Warner Home Video collects cartoons around a certain theme and then puts them in a DVD for our enjoyment. I'll know more once I review this new DVD. :-]

More Gifs, OH MY!

OYE! Once I start making animated GIFs I usually can't stop. So here are three more gifs that you can enjoy:

I have a few more in mind that I want to create from "Pecos Pest". Not sure when I'll get to them, but it will be soon.

I mentioned this on Facebook and Twitter, but here it is again. Frederick Gardner is a 2-time Emmy Award winning artist & background designer who worked on Tom and Jerry Meet Sherlock Holmes. El Frederico has posted his production designs from that movie.

Updates - Round 3: GIFs

Posted: March 19, 2012

Okay, I had planned on having this update last week, but thanks to Global Warming I was enjoying the near 80 degree F weather over the last few days. At any rate, I have new updates for you that include 2 sound clips from "The Cat's Me-Ouch" where Tom is saying "Ah-HA!". You can find the sound bites on Page 4 of the Sounds gallery near the middle of the page.

Also updated is the Animated GIF gallery with 5 new animations. You can check it out in the gallery or just click the links below:

Tom and Jerry In the Dog House
I am a proud father of a 15 and a half month old daughter. My daughter's favorite word/thing at the moment is to point to a dog, any dog live or pictured, and say "woof". In fact, she says "woof" to let my wife and I know that she wants to see a dog. The irony being as the once she is faced with a real dog she doesn't know what to do with about. Why do I mention this? I think WB knows that people like dogs and perhaps they would like to see all the Spike cartoons on one disc. I for one think that this is a great idea. I know a lot of fans of Spike and this disc caters to specifically to that fan base. Though, I also think it can cater to dog lovers as well. So with that aside taken care of, lets get down to the nitty-gritty review..

Containing 22 episodes of dog-centric Tom and Jerry cartoons from the Early Hanna-Barbera cartoons and Tom and Jerry Tales:

  • 24 Karat Kat
  • Destruction Junction
  • Beefcake Tom
  • Bend it Like Thomas
  • Tom's Photo Finish
  • Game Set Match
  • Cat Napping
  • Cat Fishin'
  • The Bodyguard
  • Quiet Please!
  • Solid Serenade
  • Slicked-up Pupv
  • Puttin' on the Dog
  • The Framed the Cat
  • Tot Watchers
  • The Invisible Mouse
  • Pet Peeve
  • Feeding Time
  • DJ Jerry
  • Beach Bully Bingo
  • A Life Less Guarded
  • The Dog House

The Good:
Each cartoon is presented in it's original aspect ratio. The cartoons are crisp and clean. Me thinks that the older Hanna-Barbera cartoons were the ones that were scrubbed clean for the recent Golden Collection DVD/Blu-ray.

I enjoyed the Spike marathon and I think this would be a good addition to the DVD collection for fans of Spike or if you kids just love dogs. My daughter is a bit to young for these cartoons, but I certainly hope that when she's older she will enjoy these as well.

The Bad:
Well, it's a pretty bare-bones DVD. You have different language options and a couple trailers. This is also kind of a double dip since there are other DVDs out there that have these cartoons. However, the double-dip aspect isn't necessaryily a bad thing as this is straight up collection of specific cartoons. Like I said, if you just want the dog centric cartoons in one place, this is the disc for that.

The only really glaring thing that I find bad about this is where is the love for the other eras? There are not Gene Deitch, Chuck Jones, 70's Tom and Jerry, or heaven helps Tom and Jerry Kids?

The Ugly:
You can really tell the difference in the quality of the Hanna-Barbera cartoons with the Tom and Jerry Tales cartoons when present one right after the other. The cartoons are clean and sharp and nothing is truly glaringly ugly about this set.

My final thought is that if you have someone that really likes Spike or has a particular fondness for dog cartoons, this is a great disc. Hardcore Tom and Jerry fans most likely won't be interested in this disc as they will already have these cartoons on other discs. Although, being a hardcore Tom and Jerry fan, I find this disc great for future viewing for a daughter that likes to point at dogs and say "woof".

Updates - Round 1

Posted: March 14, 2012

It has begun!

Okay, overly epic intro, but hey, it's nearly 80 degrees F in March in the Midwest US and I'd rather be outside.

Round 1 of my updates for the week is 21 new images to the picture gallery. Some are large and some are not so large, but all are Tom & Jerry goodness.

Now for a shameless plug! Score the amazing Threadless design, Robots! I was promised Robots!, to help it get printed!: http://bit.ly/xq1kGl. This is a design that I submitted that I hope will win to be made into a T-shirt. Sorry, it's not a Tom & Jerry shirt...not allowed to do that I'm afraid.

See you at the next update!
