WHAT HAS HAPPENED AT TOM AND JERRY ONLINE IN THE PAST
Welcome to the News Archive. This is a place where I bore you to death with all the past news from the site :-] There are some links in here that may be out dated and useless, but that doesn't mean that all of them are broken. There are some useful info in this archive which you may want to check out. I've set things up so that all the news of that year is displayed for your viewing/reading pleasure.

Merry Christmas everyone!
POSTED: December 24, 2006
Like I said yesterday...the updates are a coming. Just like Santa this time of year. So what does Jolly Ol' St. Rome :-] bring? 22 new images in the picture gallery!

Merry early Christmas!
It's Saturday the 23rd and I've come bearing updates! The first of many updates...I believe. For starters, I've updated the Episode guide with information about Tom and Jerry Kids. Now, it's not as accurate as most of the guide, but at least I have something up to show after all these years of looking for some information. I'll also be updating the guide with Tom and Jerry tales information as well.
Amongst the episode guide update, I've added a new video clip. It is a Milk Ad.
On a more somber note, a co-worker sent me this link to an editorial comic that pays homage to Joe Barbera. You can find it here. (It's the December 15, 2006 post)
I should have some more updates throughout this weekend so keep your eyes open.
POSTED: December 20, 2006
Christmas is nearly upon us and as such I will have some time to devote to some updates on the site. I have some images that I will be putting up as well as a video clip. So look for it coming around the 25th of this month. In the meantime, I have the translation of "Tom and Chérie" on the Translation page. I don't think that there are any more Tom and Jerry cartoons that have non-English speaking parts in them. So if you care to know what Nibbles/Tuffy are saying in the Mousketeer cartoons, head over to the Translations page.

'tis a sad day today this evening of December 18, 2006. Joseph Barbera has passed away.

It's the 12th of December and I have just finished watching the Tom and Jerry Tales DVD. I must confess that I've found those toons to be quite enjoyable. Now, there is no way Tom and Jerry Tales can get close to the magic of the Original runs, but that's not to say that this current version is utterly awful. I'll get into a little more detail when I write a review for it. :-] Check it out for yourselves, Tom and Jerry Tales is a fun watch.
..I still prefer the originals though :-p
I hope to have a decent update to the site before the year is out. I want to add more to the episode guide and put up a few more images. So keep your eyes open for it.

It's the morning of December 11. A week ago I ordered Tom and Jerry and Tex Avery Too Volume 1 CD and I have to say that if you are a fan of the Tom and Jerry music you must get this. Basically, this CD has 25 tracks of the music used for the episodes. So you are actually listening just the musical score of the entire episode sans sound effects and voices (unless there is vocal music). And yes, Pecos Pest is on the CD in all it's stuttering glory (hi-de-oh-lay-eeeee....er...and a yodel goes in there somewhere).
So go here and get yourself a copy: Tom and Jerry & Tex Avery Too! Vol. 1: The 1950s
POSTED: December 03, 2006
Another update on the 3rd of December! Actually this is great news! Neil just sent me an email about Scott Bradley's music on CD! This is something that all of us have been salivating for for many a year! Here are the link to the article and where to buy:
Tom and Jerry & Tex Avery Too! Vol. 1: The 1950s
POSTED: December 03, 2006
It's the 3rd of December and it's really really cold outside. I dislike the winter...anyway, since I'm inside today, I have fixed the Episode search. Yay! That's the first phase in the episode guide updates. I plan on doing some updates to the episode guide...it's going to take a while as I gather all the information and make sure it's as accurate as I can it.
POSTED: November 27, 2006
Happy post-Thanksgiving Monday...or as the media powerhouses dub this day...Cyber-Monday. ugh.
Anyway, I'm in the process of writing a review of the Tom and Jerry Tales DVD that I just acquired. There are 12 episodes on Vol. 1 and I've gone through 7 of them. I have to say that they are not bad, some of them really had me laughing pretty hard. The old magic of the classic lingers but it's not the same. I guess I'll have to get over the fact that magic of the classic Tom and Jerry's can NEVER be duplicated. My one main problem with the latest cartoons so far is Spike...they made him into a real jerk.
I have a few updates...actually a long list of updates for this site. Most are just informational updates...the big one that I'm going to tackle here in the next couple of weeks is the episode guide. I need to, not only fix the search, but add information about Tom and Jerry Kids and the latest cartoons, Tom and Jerry Tales.
POSTED: November 10, 2006
Just a quick not to let you guys know that I added a couple links to the links page yesterday (Nov 9). Both links are for online retailers that sell Tom and Jerry Children's books and coloring books. Check them out:

Ok...I blew it! I know...it's a week too late. But as I was doing some updates on Tom and Jerry this evening of November 7th I just happened upon Tom and Jerry Costumes! Yup, you read that right...finally after all these years of people asking about Tom and Jerry costumes I can finally say I know where you can get them.
And they are here:
POSTED: November 06, 2006
Well...this first weekend of November resulted in Tom and Jerry Online moving to a different server. The move had a few hic-cups, part of which some of you are experiencing when you do a seacrch on the episodes page. I'm going to be working on that. Anyway, as a result of this move I may be opening up the Clubhouse again, though I'm uncertain of that. Things have been really busy for me lately as I've just started a new job, hence, the move to new servers.
POSTED: October 30, 2006
Greetings this eve of All Hallows Eve eve....er..yeah..
Just give you all a heads up, there will be some hic-cups on this site for a little bit. Not sure when exactly they will occur, but it will be soon. I will be moving this site to a new server and hosting company. Hopefully, this transition will be smooth, but I've done enough of these transfers to know better :-]
POSTED: October 15, 2006
Greetings. It's been awhile since I've updated with news. So on this cold, middle of October day of the 15th I give you a link to a very funny comic staring Tom and Jerry.
It is an online comic called VG Cats** and the comic that features Tom and Jerry is here: "The Lost Episodes"
**WARNING: There may be content on the VG Cats site that may be inappropriate for children. VG Cats' audience is mainly video gamers and young adults.

Ahh...it's the end of the week...the last day of Summer. *sigh*
So on this day, I found this: TOM & JERRY: "THE MOUSE GETS THE CHEESE" HANNA-BARBERA SERIES 2
Yup! There is a second series of Hanna-Barbera Toys coming this winter and sure enough Tom and Jerry are included again!
In the mean time, I've found the first series on Amazon along with a Bobble Head: Shop Amazon

Ok...I did it...I've updated the gallery.
Yes, 2 days after my news post I have done it!. So head over to the gallery and enjoy the nearly 200 screenshots of Title Cards and cut scenes. Thanks to whomever sent those to me...oh so long ago.
In other news, I just got this email informing me about the Spotlight Collection recall:
I called the Warner Home Video a number of weeks ago about the envelope for the Tom & Jerry replacement discs and they still haven't arrived. So, I just got off the phone with them and they said they are waiting until they get a certain number of orders before they send them out. She said maybe next week. So, I just thought I would let you know so that you can remind your readers that they sooner they order their replacement discs the sooner we all will get them.
Thanks Terry for letting us know!
POSTED: September 17, 2006
Today is Sunday September 17, 2006...we are 6 days away from the Premiere of Tom and Jerry Tales on the KidsWB. Yay!
Aside from that I've updated the site! Yes, yes, I know...ABOUT FRICKIN' TIME YOU LAZY BUM!!! :-] anyway, I've added 2 news sounds (intro's to the 1975 and the 1980 cartoon shows) and 7 new images with more on the way...oh yes...a lot more. Someone sent me a whole bunch of screenshots that I completely forgot that I had. I stumbled upon them today :-] I should have them up sometime this week.

Today is the Anniversary of the Tom and Jerry show.
Yes, I know, it's not up to par with the original Hanna-Barbera, but nothing can. So with that I'd like to say:
HAPPY 31ST ANNIVERSARY!
(SEPTEMBER 6, 1975 - SEPTEMBER 6, 2006)
Along with this anniversary greeting I have the intro to said cartoon show available on the videos page. Much Thanks goes to Coen for providing it for us!

Not sure if this will get noticed, but a Tom and Jerry fan has started a petition called "Do not censor Tom & Jerry" in response to last week's lunacy.
Check it out:

POSTED: August 25, 2006
Some reasonable news this week.
William over at The Digital Bits sent this little bit of news to me:
Warner Home Video has announced a disc replacement program for Tom & Jerry Spotlight Collection, Volume 2, due to complaints that some of the cartoons on the set were censored, when they were not supposed to be. For those who purchased Tom & Jerry Spotlight Collection, Volume 2, call (toll free) 1-800-553-6937 and give them your name, address and telephone number. A self-addressed stamped envelope will be sent to you so that you can return the old discs. You'll be sent corrected replacement discs within about 4 weeks. No word yet on the replacements for Spotlight Collection 1.
This offer is for U.S. residents only.
Thanks William for the info!
Today is August 25th.

Pretty soon there will be nothing left of the cartoons...just Tom sleeping on his pillow and Jerry sleeping in his bed. But someone will probably complain that it will promote over-sleeping and laziness in children.
Utterly ridiculous! I think William Hanna is rolling over in his grave!
Start buying the DVD's...even then there are edits...ugh..I'm depressed.

I've not had any time to devote to Tom and Jerry of late...I know, I know, SACRILEGE! But as always the case, real life interferes with internet life. I'm still working on the forum replacement..I should be re-opening the clubhouse soon.
I hope you guys can forgive me for not make many updates lately. My plate got exceedingly full.
POSTED: July 07, 2006
I have to close down the forum. Sorry about this, but it's causing some havok on the server that it is sitting on.
POSTED: June 25, 2006
It's the morning of June 25th and I have some good news and I have some bad news.
The Tom and Jerry Clubhouse [the forums] are now open again!
The forums will be up on a temporary basis. I noticed that it can be really flakey. Specifially, with the server that it's sitting on. So if the forum causes more issue...which all I'm hoping that all the work I did fixed that...I will have to shut down the Clubhouse and find an alternate forum and start from sratch there. I'm hoping to avoid that. But if anyone has any ideas as to good, free forums I'd be much appreciative.

AHHH!!! More news!
Good morning on the first day of summer, the 21st day of June.
I just got word from someone the The WB about Tom and Jerry Tales. It's coming this fall to the US!
Thanks WB for letting us know!

The news keeps coming at Tom and Jerry Online.
Today is Tuesday, June 20, the last day of Spring :-[
I got an email today from fellow Tom and Jerry fan, Steve, about a new Tom and Jerry DVD coming out called: Tom & Jerry: Shiver Me Whisker
Not sure what to think about this one...The last one was The Fast and the Furry...which seemed to be trying to cash in on "The Fast and the Furious" movie franchise. And now, a month after the premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean 2, Warner Brothers is releasing this pirate themed Tom and Jerry DVD. hmmm...maybe I'm reading into this too much.
POSTED: June 19, 2006
For those that were waiting paitently for the forums to get back up yesterday, I have to postpone the opening of the forum for about a week. I had some personal crisies come up that prevented me from working on it. The forum is opening on the 25th of June...so one week from today. I'm sorry about this.
POSTED: June 17, 2006
This just in from TVshows on DVD, by way of Aaron, on June 17, 2006:
Tom and Jerry Tales - 2005 Tom & Jerry Series Comes To DVD!
So that's some good news for those that are fans of the latest series and those that have been waiting to see it...like me.
The article mentions that it will be release on the 3rd of October. More news as I get it.
Oh...HAPPY FATHERS DAY! to all those dads out there!
POSTED: June 09, 2006
Good news everyone!
Last night on June 8, 2006, Home Theater Forum held a chat with Warner Brothers. TV Shows on DVD ran a very interesting news blurb about the Replacement DVDs issue that we've all been waiting for!
Thanks, Ed, for letting us know!
I'm going to take a "wait and see" attitude with this. I've heard these rumblings before...especially from these chat sessions that Home Theater Forum has with Warner Brothers. So I'm going to try to not get my hopes up too much. Please forgive my cynicism.
POSTED: May 25, 2006
Happy May 25!
I'm going to have to shut down the forums for a little bit. I'm running into some problems with it. No worries, it has nothing to do with bad people on the forums, it's just having some technical difficulties right now and I need to take it offline for a little bit. I will have the forums up on June 18, 2006. Sorry about this.
Other than that, there isn't much happening in the Tom and Jerry realm that I know of. Anyone got any news on Tom and Jerry they'd like me to share?
POSTED: May 03, 2006
Sorry for the downtime yesterday. The server was acting a little loopy. Hopefully, things are all better now.

I just got some information about Tom and Jerry Tales:
Starting in Fall 2006: The "Tom and Jerry Tales" cartoon series will debut on the Kids WB on CW Network lineup (also slated to debut on Kids WB on CW: "The New Scooby-Doo and Shaggy Show", "Legion of Super Heroes", and "Monster Allergies"; along with returning "Loonatics Unleashed", "Xialon Showdown", "Johnny Test", "The Batman", and "The Pillow Head Hour".). Gone are "Coconut Fred's Fruit Salad Island", "Yu-Gi-Oh", "Virtural Joe", and (despite the 4 Kids voice cast walking out) "Pokemon".
Thanks Darryl for the information, this day of the 25th, the last Tuesday of April 2006.

Happy Easter, Everyone!
Just thought I'd do one more tiny update...I've added biography information to Butch and Spike in the Characters section. Nothing major. :-]
Thanks, meenakshi for contributing that information!
POSTED: April 15, 2006
I found an old VHS that I bought years ago and on the back was in image of Jerry about to shoot Tom with an arrow. I thought I'd scan it and put it up, so I did.
Happy Saturday April 15!
POSTED: April 13, 2006
I decided since I have Good Friday off tomorrow that I would stay up and add some VHS information that I've had for a while. I've added information on, 4 Out of Print VHS's. The information can be found in the DVD/VHS section of the site.
That's the only update that I got for you this Thursday the 13th of April. I may add some information on the Holy Grail of Tom and Jerry...the LaserDiscs, sometime in the near future. Not sure yet when. I have a bunch of updates that I want to do to the music section. I've had some help recently on some music infomation but I've yet to do any work on it. Ah...the distractions of life.
Have a Happy Easter!

It is done. Some of you may have noticed that the site was down for about 10 minutes or so...but now it is back up with the changes that were mentioned in yesterday's post. There may be a few minor bugs with the site so please be patient while I go look for them and make the site run smoothly. :-]
POSTED: April 07, 2006
Ah..Spring time is in the air.
Well, I've spent the better part of two weeks cleaning things up on this site. Mostly stuff that doesn't necessarily pertain to you guys. Basically, I cleaned up the HTML and stuff. For those code monkies out there, I've redone this sites code in CSS. Plus some of the data driven areas were revamped a bit. So what the heck does that mean? It means that sometime this weekend (April 8-9, 2006) Tom and Jerry will be "down for maintenece" while I upgrade the code and the pages.
Now..I know some might not like the site being down, so to make up for it I've added some information on Fred Quimby, a translation page (where it has English transcripts of a few cartoons), changed the Release Dates page to Random Trivia. All of this will be released sometime this weekend.
Hopefully, these chnages will make things a bit faster on the site.
So there is your heads up for things happening on Tom and Jerry Online on April 7, 2006.

+ 3 images in the pictures (2 courtesy the Boomerang site again)

Thanks Michael for giving me the intro.
POSTED: March 21, 2006
Well folks it's the day after Spring started and it's snowing outside. Ah winter's revenge.
Anyway, things have been a little weird in Rome's world for the last couple of weeks. I've not had the time to devote to updating the site like I had wanted to. I have a bunch of stuff that I want to put up and do with the site. One of the big things is to clean up the HTML code in this site. No worries, that's not the only thing and that won't be the first thing I do. I'm hoping that in next couple of days or so, I'll have some new stuff up...barring I don't get stuck in a snow drift on my way home or get the flu again...oy!
Oh, I've seen the Karate Guard. I'd say, it was enjoyable. It had a lingering bit of the old classic magic and it had some funny moments.
POSTED: March 03, 2006
Rome stands on his soapbox and address the Tom and Jerry fans on March 3, 2006. It begins...
I've gotten a lot of emails recently regarding a lecture that got a lot of press last month. I have a rebuttal:
Tom and Jerry were created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera at the MGM studios in 1940, NOT by Walt Disney.
I will not put the link on site...the lecture does not need any more press.
Rome steps off the soapbox.
POSTED: February 22, 2006
Ok...I've been getting a lot of emails lately about the New Tom and Jerry Tales, mostly from the UK. It looks like Boomerang is going to begin airing the show on Monday the 27th of February at 5:30 PM. Check your local listings.
Anyone know if it's going to be showing on the US version of Boomerang?
POSTED: February 08, 2006
Good news everyone...I've been gettting a lot of emails like this:
"Boomerang UK has just advertised that a new show, Tom & Jerry Tales, is coming. (possibly near end of Feb) "
Anybody hear anything about this for the US? I don't get cartoon network so I haven't heard much. :-[
So that's pretty much it for the news/rumors for today, February 8th, 06.
POSTED: January 19, 2006
I should have some more updates to the site sometime soon. I've found some nifty things. Anyway, today is the 19th of January and in about 8 days the New Tom and Jerry cartoon stroy and direction by the man himself, Joe Barbera. Here's the info:
A new Tom & Jerry directed and written by Joseph Barbera and produced by Spike Brandt and Tony Cervone will primere on Friday, January 27, 2006 at 9:00PM on Cartoon Network.
There is also a rumor...and I do stress RUMOR...A series of more new cartoons has been said to be in the works. Can anyone confirm this?
Also, if you are interested in movie posters: THIS SITE has links to where you can purchase them.
Oh, and one more thing, I have this downloaded and will put this up eventually, but I'll just share the link with you:
Ford Mondeo - Tom and Jerry Commercial
I think this came out a couple of years ago, but I missed it since we don't get that car in the US so no commercial for us.
POSTED: January 19, 2006
Another update for the 19th....man, I've been busy today :-]
Thanks to Peter and the Big Cartoon Database, I've added the listings for the Filmation era cartoons as well as the long overdue addition of the Mansion Cat to the episode guide.
The only major missing piece for a complete episode guide is the Tom and Jerry: Kids. I know...I've seen the few lists out there that show them...but they only have titles and I don't know which ones have Tom and Jerry and which ones are Droopy and Dribble. I could be mistaken since I missed that series when they fist were shown.
POSTED: January 13, 2006
Well it's Friday the 13th and you guys are in luck...the good kind.
I've added a new image for those of you that like to color. So head over to the coloring section (the new one is the last one on the list).
In other news, Aaron over at "Aaron's New Tom and Jerry Information Site" sent me this link for the Official site of Hanna-Barbera cartoons. Head on over there and have some fun!
Also, apparently the was a new Tom and Jerry short that was made in September of 2005. It is called The Karate Guard. I don't have much info on it yet...I'm looking into it. Thanks Steve for letting me know!
Speaking of cartoons, I've finally did a little updating to the episode guide and have included the latest ones from Warner Brothers. Thanks to Big Cartoon Database for the information!
